| Tigre Tierra® Casing
Drivers Introduced in 1969, Tigre Tierra® Casing Drivers have earned a worldwide reputation among engineers and drillers for toughness, durability, and easy field maintenance. Applications include: • Water wells • Groundwater monitoring • Mineral exploration • Pile driving • Oil and gas well surface casing • Tie-back anchors • Horizontal freeze pipes These patented drivers are designed for use with top head air rotary drilling machines to drive or pull steel casing through overburden and caving formations of boulders, gravel, glacial till, sand and clay. They are pneumatically powered and have only two moving parts. A single stainless steel valve operates the driver. Drill pipe runs through a vertical passage. Casing is driven as drilling advances, and each operation is controlled separately to permit coordinated drilling and driving through varied formations. Drivers can be reversed to hammer up casing for re-use, or to expose well screens. Four models are available to drive casing from 2” to 24” in diameter. Standard rotary bits or downhole percussion hammers can be used for drilling. Drillers can enjoy these advantages over conventional air rotary, mud rotary, and cable tool percussion methods: • 80% improvement in penetration rates • Casing advances simultaneously with drilling and circulation • Operator can tap and chip through difficult formations using controls • No pulling drill pipe to advance casing • Straight holes, no cave-ins, and loss of circulation • All-weather operation, no mud additives • Less air needed, casing protects hole from erosion • Continuous formation sampling, small aquifers easily detected |
